Business Development Manager – Laboratory Automation

The key objective of this newly created role is to grow sales with new as well as existing customers for custom, ‘one off’ and repeat build system solutions in the laboratory environment. The role will be mainly field based, focussed on new business development, which will involve a degree of overseas travel. The role will be based out of Astech’s office and not home office based.

Pro-actively seeking out and qualifying new leads and opportunities together with identifying competitor and market activity will be an ongoing responsibility, as will accurate sales planning and forecasting.

The role will involve working closely with Astech’s Design Engineering teams to understand and meet customer expectations in delivering an innovative and competitive proposal. In addition, it will be necessary to pursue the enquiry through to proposal presentation, contract negotiation and ultimately purchase order.

The identification, development and maintenance of influential contacts within customer organisations will play an essential part in achieving success in the role.

Essential Criteria:

  • Science/Engineering degree, 2:1 or above
  • Significant sales and business development experience
  • Commercial appreciation
  • Proven sales performance record
  • Highly motivated
  • Willingness to travel
  • Lead/opportunity development skills
  • Desirable Criteria:

  • Robotics and automation industry experience, preferably laboratory automation
