Plume & Sound Analysis
ASTECH can supply full / semi automated workstations for carrying
out the automatic analysis of pMDI inhaler plumes and sounds.
These automated solutions utilize modular automation from our
library of respiratory products such as the DHWF for device waste/dose
firing and our custom storage facilities for holding up to 150
devices prior to processing.
Plume Analysis
A plethora of recorded data can be gathered very quickly using
this type of technology. ASTECH provide a solution where the shake
profile is fully configurable for various shake simulations including
linear, arc inversion, rotational etc. When the pMDI is fired
ASTECH use state of art image capturing technology to record the
plume profile. Profiles are stored in a secure database environment
for easy retrieval and analysis.
Generated data can be used for R&D of next generation devices
prior to launch or for the further development of an existing
device. The technology can also be used for batch release testing
using a simple “Pass / Fail” of the plume against
a previously stored “good plume”. This type of system
is often employed near the production line to give immediate feedback
for production batches.
Sound Analysis
ASTECH can also record the sound each pMDI makes as it is fired.
A “bad fire” will give a different sound signature
to “good fire”. This can be characterized using in-built
analysis software. Again, this data can be securely stored, retrieved
and analysed. Alternatively, it can be used to provide simple
“Pass / Fail” decisions for Analysts testing production
batches.
